Unity Church of Pensacola

South East Unity Conference: ONE POWER

Oct. 15th I flew directly from our church service to Tampa Airport, on the smallest plane I've ever been on. I arrived safely and drove to St. Petersburg Beach, for my first Regional Conference with UNITY.
I needed this trip! I needed to get out of town and relax. What I needed was to come and be recharged and recharging is exactly what is taking place.

Recording artist, Daniel Nahmod is here and as many of you know we continually sing his wonderful song in our services, "Love is my Decision." Daniel opened his mouth to sing the first number, which is another one of my favorites called ONE POWER, and I felt the emotions bubbling to the surface. I melted in my chair as I listened to him pour his heart out to the people gathered in that room. God was there!

I have been so blessed to watch Daniel perform these last couple of days and to feel the music through my heart space and not just my ears. Daniel has a new fan for sure! Be sure to check out his music at www.danielnahmod.com now! Tell him Rev. Jamie sent ya!

Also moving was the message of Rev. Richard Rogers. Powerful words that gave so many of us things to think on and heal in our own lives and ministries. Thank you Richard... Thank you!
I AM Satisfied!

One day left here and I will be heading back to Pensacola. Thank you
God for my time with these wonderful people and for the healing that continues to take place in my life.

 Happy.... Happy!

What makes me happiest? Moments with people I love, and being with those I know without a doubt love me back! These are the priceless moments that so often go unnoticed. My prayer is always that I feel the experinece as it is taking place. Being mindful of who and what is before me at any given moment.

My Great Nephew Christoper, what a face huh? I love this boy! He makes me smile even in my spirit!

My friend Christine! She is one that I truly believe loves me! "I know that I know" when I am with her that I am loved and I am safe!

My new buddy Carole Mullens! What a breath of fresh air, joy and peace! Her presence soothes me! Thank you for coming into my world my friend.

These are some of the things that bring me joy!

I AM So Blessed.

Edwene is coming... Edwene is coming!!!!!

In my line of work I get to meet some pretty remarkable people! Years ago I met Edwene Gaines when she came and spoke at Way of Life Unity Center in Fort Walton Beach. Woman blew me away. She made me laugh, She made me think and shifted my life in a new direction. Talk about a powerhouse of spirit in motion!

Here it is all these years later; I'm not that same kid anymore, that sat there with my mouth hanging open as she spoke. I'm actually the minister of a church of my own now, but I gotta' tell ya. I never forgot the power and wisdom I learned from Edwene.

On Sunday, Aug. 20th, Edwene will be live in person for our big day of celebration here at Unity of Pensacola. We are celebrating the buring of our church mortgage, our church building is 100 years old, and our ministry is now 66 years in the flow of service. WOW!
Seems only fitting that our speaker that day be one of my teachers who gave me not only direction, but helped mold me into becoming who I AM becoming. Funny how Spirit sends us the very people we need, when we need them the most.

It will be quite a day for me on the 20th. Not only because of our celebration, but to have someone who means so much to me, be here as well.
Thank you God... Thank you God.....

 Alaska Baby!

Have you ever been to Alaska? Well, I hadn't either, but I did just recently as part of "The Association of Unity Churches International" World conference. It had always been a dream of mine to go there, and low and behold if it didn't ended up being something I was required to attend as part of my training in the Field Licensing Program. God is good huh? The conference took place on The Celebrity Cruise ship "Mercury" and was my first experience, not only in Alaska, but on a cruise ship as well. I had a memorable time with my friends, and met new friends too. Check out the pictures below:

Pulling into the first port!

My Friend Joy A.K.A. Homeless woman on Deck!

My Good Buddy Christine! I sure do love her!

Sun on the water!

This is actually taken from the airplane; Mt. Rainer above the clouds! Is that wild or what?

 Birmingham weekend: What a Blessing!

This past weekend I went to Birmingham to visit the Unity Church there as part of my assignments for the Field Licensing Program from The Association of Unity Churches. I really believed I was going there to simply go to church, and come home. Funny how God can take our plans and expand them into being something we never imagined possible.
Renee ("I love this Church") Bostany and former Music Director, Annice Moore went along on this road trip, so that Renee could show me where the church was and to put us up with her family who live in the heart of Birmingham. I had no idea that I was going to meet such awesome people that would feed my spirit and allow me to feel such love and an overwhelming sense of family and true UNITY, the way the entire Bostany family gave to Annice and I while visiting with them.
On Saturday evening we attended a Lebanese Festival at the Bostany family church, and had a blast! The music, the food, the joy of being surrounded by a different culture, and learning about the history of Lebanon and of their local Catholic church was something I really enjoyed. Watching the Children perform dances that gave homage to their heritage, and watching the elderly family members at each table smile at their Grandchildren and even Great Grandchildren was very moving. I felt honored to be there amongst such beautiful people.
I stayed in the home of Renee's older brother Gary, and was blown away by this man's knowledge, and passion for his hometown, his family and so many other things. He literally shines when he speaks of his Mother, Father, Brother and Sisters and his work. There is something magical that takes place when we are passionate about our life. Sitting on his balcony that overlooked the Birmingham skyline at the twinkling lights of the city below was mesmerizing as we talked about life, family, and who he and I are as individuals. I felt such peace and gratitude in that moment. Funny how the simply things can give us such great gifts when we but open our hearts and minds, when we are willing to pay attention to them. Gary is a man of spirit and vision and I am blown away by all that he brings to his family, his work and community.
Sunday morning we attended Unity of Birmingham and had such a great time with that congregation. I realized sitting there how important it is that I get away sometimes from my usual routine, and just go sit and be fed spiritually as well. I felt tears streaming down my face several times in that service, and it felt good to let go and just be still and feel what is mine to feel. The tears were not tears of sadness, they were tears of thankfulness for simply being there, not just in church, but with Renee and Annice, to have been blessed to have met the family that Renee loves so much and to have them offer hospitality, but even greater, they offered LOVE to us and with such ease and little effort. I was moved. I was happy. I was completely full of great joy!!!!
The Family served an unbelieveable lunch after church and the Bostany home was filled with people everywhere. There was laughter, playing, cooking and a true sense of family in that home like I have never seen. I watched, I listened and loved every minute of being there with those extraordinary people.

Mr. and Mrs. Bostany sat at the end of the table after lunch and listened as everyone talked and laughed, and they beamed with such pride. There before them was their legacy, the very love they have shared through the years was gathered in that house all around them, and that love will live on in, and through the lives of their children, and their children's children as well, and what a beautiful legacy it is. I love those two people very much. When leaving their home I felt really sad in saying good-bye to them, saying good-bye to that feeling of connectedness and warmth. What a gift that weekend has been. I needed to step back from my life and step into the life of others to be nurtured, healed, and renewed, and indeed I have been.

To Mom and Dad Bostany, Danny, Judy, Yvonne, and to Gary I thank you from the bottom of my heart for filling mine so much, and in such a short period of time. To Renee, You gave me the greatest gift you could have ever given. You gave me not only a second family this past weekend, but you gave me LOVE.

Signing off with a joyful heart!

Jamie "Bostany" Sanders
